Dangerous weather conditions suspended play for the day at 3:25 p.m. local time on Saturday at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship in Rogers, Ark.
Eight groups completed at least one hole of the second round before play was suspended, with the golf course at Pinnacle Country Club described as unplayable.
The LPGA announced Saturday night that rules officials assessed the golf course and are “hopeful” with drying conditions overnight that Round 2 will resume at 7:10 a.m. local time on Sunday. An announcement will be made after officials evaluate course conditions earlier Sunday and also determine if the tournament will be 36 or its originally scheduled 54 holes.
Alison Lee completed three holes at 1-under par and is tied for the tournament lead at 8 under with first-round co-leaders Sarah Schmelzel and Japan’s Minami Katsu, who had yet to start their second round with scheduled afternoon tee times after both carded an 8-under 63 on Friday.
Starting on the back nine, Lee birdied the par-4 No. 12.
South Korea’s Narin An, who also completed three holes and in 2 under, is tied for fourth at 7 under with five others who didn’t play on Saturday: Lilia Vu, Spain’s Calota Ciganda, Japan’s Nasa Hataoka, Ireland’s Leona Maguire, South Korea’s Somi Lee. An started at No. 1 with a birdie and also birdied the par-5 No. 2.
