Shane Pinto beat Matt Murray in the third round of the shootout as the Ottawa Senators rallied for a 3-2 win over the visiting Nashville Predators on Saturday.
Tim Stutzle had a goal and an assist in regulation and scored in the second round of the shootout. Drake Batherson also scored for the Senators, while Ottawa goaltender Linus Ullmark stopped 16 shots.
Ross Colton and Jonathan Marchessault scored first-period goals, and Ryan O’Reilly had a shootout goal for Nashville.
Murray recorded 18 saves in his first start since the 2023-24 season, when he played for the Dallas Stars.
Ullmark saved Steven Stamkos’ final shootout attempt to secure the win.
Earlier in the third period, with an extra attacker on the ice, Stutzle’s shot deflected off Pinto and ricocheted off Batherson’s shin to tie the game at 2-2 at 18:37.
The Predators struck first at 8:50 of the opening period when a loose puck emerged from a crowd near the left circle. Colton collected it and snapped a quick shot past Ullmark into the top-right corner of the net.
Marchessault doubled Nashville’s lead on the power play at 13:10. Taking a pass from Stamkos just below the left circle, Marchessault turned and fired, slipping a shot between Ullmark’s stick and the post to make it 2-0.
Ottawa cut its deficit to 2-1 on a power-play goal at 9:29 of the second period. Dylan Cozens slid a cross-ice pass to Stutzle, who rifled a one-timer into the net.
Murray gloved Cozens’ shot at 13:40 of the second period. Moments later, Thomas Chabot’s wrist shot through traffic rang off the left post.
Later in the second period, the Predators killed off Ottawa’s five-on-three advantage.
The Predators killed off a power play to open overtime, and as Roman Josi emerged from the penalty box, he collected a rebound at center ice and skated in alone on Ullmark, who turned aside his shot.
