Former NBA All-Star guard D’Angelo Russell signed a contract with the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association.
The CBA announced the transaction Wednesday on social media.
The Los Angeles Lakers made Russell the No. 2 pick of the 2015 NBA Draft, and he also played for the Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves and Dallas Mavericks over 11 seasons.
The Mavericks traded Russell, 30, to the Wizards on Feb. 5 as part of a three-team trade, but he never played for Washington. The Wizards flipped the 6-foot-3 Russell to the Memphis Grizzlies in a six-team trade on July 8, and Memphis waived him last week.
In 26 games (three starts) last season in Dallas, he averaged 10.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. In 655 career games (539 starts), Russell has averages of 17.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 5.6 assists.
He was an All-Star in the 2018-19 season with the Nets when he averaged 21.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 7.0 assists.
